Years ago we lived in Calgary and that’s when my love of the Calgary Stampede started. I had never experienced anything like it, and I love how the whole city gets behind it to celebrate! Every day people dress up as cowboys and cowgirls, they go to pancake breakfasts, bbq dinners, basically the whole city shuts down to celebrate for 10 days. I haven’t missed a stampede since 2001 since I love it so much!

Nashville North – this has become my favorite part of the Stampede! For the past few years they have been doing Gay Days on the first Saturday of Stampede. This year over 1300 were in attendance for this party! You’ll find the Nashville North tent right in the Stampede grounds. Plan to stand in a line, by the time we left yesterday it was over a 3 hour wait to get in.

The Food – Stampede is always known for their midway food. From traditional to way out there, they have something to offer for everyone. We love to try the new foods every year and this time we chose the Hangover Mac and Cheese and Deep Fried Kit Kat Fries. Midway food prices can be very expensive, plan on sharing with a friend so you can try more items and save some money!

The Rides – A huge part of the Stampede is the rides, they have all the classics this year including the return of the Zipper! One of the newest attractions is the zip-line, allowing you to fly over the Stampede. I thought it was pretty cool to watch but you would never catch me that high up!

Roadtrip Ready –  this year I got to ride in style thanks to Ford Canada. The 2018 Ford Explorer was a great road-trip vehicle with super comfortable multi-contour seats for the long drive. The Sync 3 system allows you to make voice-activated hands-free calls to your friends and clients which is perfect for someone like me who is always on the go. I loved the dual panel moon roof to enjoy the incredible views of the city!

This blog post was written with my own views. Thank you to Ford Canada for the opportunity to test out the all new Ford Explorer for this trip.
