Our family celebrated a milestone this week, our little guy turned 10 years old. I still can’t believe it, he has been growing up so fast. Milestone birthdays call for big celebrations, you only turn double digits once! Logan only had 2 requests, he wanted his birthday party to have video games and sharks so we made it happen!

The Rec Room was a perfect choice for the party. They have over 60,000 square feet of games, food and activities all under one roof! We settled on 10 kids for the big celebration because we felt it was the perfect number to have at the party. We found some great shark accessories for the party theme including cups, candies, cupcakes and a special birthday hat.

The table was set and we were ready for the guests to arrive. The restaurant was able to provide us with a table for the duration of the party (we chose to have the celebration on a Monday when it is less busy). The balloons were delivered right to the facility for us by Balloon Source.

Their restaurant had a great kids menu available for $12 per child. It included a beverage, a main with one side dish and dessert. I was impressed by the options they had, from burgers to chicken wings, fries to broccoli, there was so many combos for the kids to choose from. We took everyone’s order when they arrived and sent them off to play some games!

We decided to purchase the best value wristbands for the kids at the party. For $30 per person you receive 200 credits total (120 credits + 80 free credits). This was enough to keep the kids entertained for the 2 hours we had them celebrating with us.

Crave cupcakes made us the CUTEST shark cupcakes! They were perfect for the theme of the party, and much easier to feed the kids within the restaurant. Over the years we have ordered many cupcakes from them and we are always so impressed with how they turn out.

The service we received in the restaurant was phenomenal. They took all the orders for food when we arrived, and had them all of them out at the same time for the kids. Each kids meal came with a dessert option, but since we already had cupcakes they were kind enough to box up the donuts for the kids so they could take them to go. The manager and two waiters we had were very attentive to all the kids requests.

The bonus at the end of the party was that the kids were able to trade in the points they had won playing the games for prizes! A lot of the games at The Rec Room offer you points when you play, a couple of the kids even won big with jackpots and bonuses! What we love about the prizes they offer is that they are higher quality items. We opted to ditch the loot bags this year which worked out because everyone left with something from the store after cashing in their points.

At the end of the night our 10 year old told us this was his favorite birthday party ever. We were so happy with how everything turned out. A big thank you to everyone at The Rec Room South Edmonton Common for making his birthday dreams come true.
