It has been two long years since the kids have had the opportunity to visit Edmonton, so we decided to surprise them with a stay at their favourite hotel! When we first stayed at the JW Marriott Edmonton ICE District in 2019 with the kids, they were spoiled by the staff and the hotel won them over! They still talk about that staycation so fondly and how much fun they had! The JW Marriott Edmonton ICE District is a luxury hotel in the heart of downtown Edmonton. The location is ideal for walking to so many things that you can see and do with the kids including Rogers Arena for concerts and sporting events. We love the location and the elevated experience has us coming back over and over again. It is our preferred hotel location in Edmonton with amazing amenities, restaurants and more all under one roof.

Check in is a breeze with the Marriott Bonvoy app. Since my husband started travelling more with his job, Denny decided to stick with Marriott properties to collect the points. The JW Marriott Edmonton Ice District has the most amazing Executive Lounge which is one of the perks of being an elevated Bonvoy member. The more stays you make, the higher your status in the program and the perks you receive!

During our stay at the JW Edmonton ICE District we had an adjoining room with our kids giving us all space and privacy during our stay. Our kids were so excited to have our own room and to be able to sleep in their own beds too. As they get older we all appreciate this option, something to keep in mind when travelling with kids! The best part is having two bathrooms available for getting ready in the morning, it speeds up the process tremendously.

The JW Marriott Edmonton ICE District has 2 amazing restaurants right in their lobby which is great when you are travelling for work with kids. We took the opportunity to dress up and have a family night out at Braven Restaurant (or as my daughter called it a fancy night out in the hotel). It was our first time dining here and it won’t be our last! Not only was the food amazing, the serving staff were so attentive and made our dining experience unforgettable.

We tried a variety of appetizers, high quality steaks and compliments from the dinner menu and loved everything. Braven is a new breed of steakhouse, led by Canada’s award-winning Chef Anthony Walsh. It is the ultimate fine-dining experience in the Edmonton ICE District. With luxury finishes, a dark and moody aesthetic and a stand out menu, you should book a reservation for that special occasion or date night on the town. The Braven Cornbread is a must try, it was my personal favourite!

The JW Marriott Edmonton ICE District offers a wide range of luxury amenities including a swimming pool and hot tub, The Spa by JW, Archetype for workouts and the most amazing Executive Lounge.

When travelling with our kids, they love when a hotel has a pool. We spent everyday on the 5th floor while they swam for hours and relaxed in the hot tub. The pool area and change rooms are beautiful and so clean which is always welcomed! I was able to sit and get some work done on the lounge chairs while they splashed in the water, it was a win for us all!

The Executive Lounge offers comfortable seating arrangements that can be utilized while working if you like a change of scenery from your room. Their breakfast options include fresh fruit, salmon, smoothies and hot buffet items with lots of hot beverage options. The evening service offers lite bites to snack on while you relax with a cocktail. We appreciate how attentive the staff were in the Executive Lounge, always checking to make sure we are comfortable and had everything we needed.

There are SO MANY things to do with kids within walking distance from the JW Marriott Edmonton ICE District. We happened to be stay during the playoffs so the kids got to enjoy the energy just outside the hotel in the Ice District! This area in downtown Edmonton has been a welcome addition to the city and has modernized the downtown core. The JW Marriott Edmonton ICE District is the ultimate location to any events you might be attending at Rogers Place!

We set aside some time to explore downtown Edmonton with the kids and found so many things to see and do. From the fun Instagrammable walls across the street to the Neon Museum a couple blocks over, you’ll find lots of places to snap some cool photos during your stay in Edmonton. If you are looking for activities to keep the kids busy, the Royal Alberta Museum and Edmonton Public Library are both walkable and fun places to explore as a family. You can also get some shopping done at the City Centre Mall just a few blocks from the hotel. We also love the Brewery District for shopping, food options and more.
