Winter Break from school is always a highlight for our family, we love being able to spend a couple weeks together during the holiday season! After Christmas we plan activities with the kids to keep them busy and love exploring our city. There is always so much to see and do in Edmonton during the winter!
Our kids LOVE swimming pools and hotel stays! We all love having an opportunity to take a mini break within the city. This year we capped off our time together with a staycation at Home2 suites by Hilton in West Edmonton! This hotel is close to lots of shopping and attractions like West Edmonton Mall, making it a great location for families travelling to the city as well!
We stayed in the King Bed Suite that had a pull out couch for the kids in the family room. We love these types of rooms because it allows us to have 2 tvs and separate sleeping areas for the kids and adults. The suite offered a kitchen, dining table, desk and a large bathroom as well. The kitchen came equipped with dishes, sink, fridge, dishwasher and microwave which comes is handy if staying long term as well. This is a pet friendly hotel so we brought Bandit with us for our stay!
The hotel includes a swimming pool, workout centre and breakfast daily for guests. The pool is always the highlight for our kids, especially in the winter! We had the pool all to ourselves when we went for a swim at night and in the morning which was perfect for the kids to splash each other and play! The swim area is well maintained and very clean with lounge chairs to relax on as well.
Across the parking lot is the Doubletree Hotel which offers a full service restaurant called Stages Kitchen and Bar. We popped over for dinner after we finished up at the pool which was 2 minute walk. The menu offered a large variety of dishes, we tried the spinach dip, butter chicken and stirfry for dinner and a couple of desserts as well. The kids menu was fantastic with lots of popular options including Kraft dinner, grilled cheese, burger sliders and more. The service was outstanding and the food was great too! This hotel also has the Mayfield Dinner Theatre which is a great option for a date or a night out with friends.
In the morning you can pop down to the lobby area of the Home2 Suites by Hilton for a FREE breakfast. The kids loved being able to eat breakfast in their pjs! They offered a large variety of breakfast items including cereal, bagels, breakfast sandwiches, yogurt and a make your own waffle station. It is a huge savings for a family of 4 to be able to have breakfast included in the room price!
Overall we had a great stay at the hotel. The staff was welcoming and we found our room to be so clean and spacious! We would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a staycation with the family or a loved one.
