It’s the sweetest time of year, when our kitchen is buzzing and all the baking is done at our house. Baking is one of my favorite things to do, I love spending time in the kitchen making treats for friends and family! I plan ahead and start my baking in November and freeze the items to enjoy throughout the Christmas season.
Headed to a Christmas party? Bring a tray of baked treats as a hostess gift, all you have to do is pull them out of the freezer and make up a nice dish to go! Pop by dollarama for some cute Christmas trays that you can leave behind for the host as well.
One of my favorite recipes that we make every Christmas is soda cracker candy. It’s a mix of chocolate, caramel and crunch from the crackers. I sprinkle with salt for that salty sweet combo that everyone loves. This is a must try and so easy to make!
Soda Cracker Candy
1 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
soda crackers (1-2 sleeves)
1.5 cups semi sweet chocolate chips
coarse or flaked salt for topping
Preheat oven to 400 degrees
Line a cookie sheet with tinfoil (dull side up)
Place soda crackers on the tinfoil so they fill it up
Over medium/low heat melt the butter and brown sugar stirring constantly until it comes to a boil
Boil for 3 minutes
Pour mixture over crackers to cover them all
Bake for 5 minutes
Sprinkle the chocolate chips over the mixture right after removing from the oven
Spread across with the back of a spatula slowly so not to move the crackers to much
Sprinkle with salt
Cool completely in the fridge
Break apart and enjoy
