I’m not new to the blogging world, I used to blog years ago about kids stuff. After years of being offline I thought it was time to be heard again and to start I want to tell you a bit about myself.

My name is Ashley and I am an entrepreneur. I have it in my blood you see, i’ve always been a creative person with a head filled with ideas. That’s the thing about entrepreneurs, the wheels are always spinning. It’s going on 12 years now that I have worked for myself and I can tell you I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I started with a business called Kula Klips and successfully grew it to be one of the top children’s accessory lines in Canada with many must have products. I saw the need for items like belts and mitten klips for my own children and I couldn’t find them in store so I made them! I spent hours on prototypes, tried them on all my friends kids and eventually came up with a product for the marketplace. I worked countless hours getting them into retailers across Canada and always felt so proud when I would run into a child wearing something from my business. Sometimes I would even stop the parent and thank them for supporting my dream. It was quite the ride! I wore a lot of hats, I learned a lot of things about what it means to own a business. You learn from mistakes, you have highs, you have lows, but with all that comes experience and when you are an entrepreneur you know there’s not a lot of people to lean on when you need help, you become very good at figuring out things by yourself.

After 8 years I was approached by a local realtor for help with their social media campaign. They saw the success I had from my own campaign and reached out for assistance. I helped on the side. Then a restaurant group needed help, so I did that too. But I soon began to realize I could not run two companies, I needed to make a decision. So I did……and it was really hard…….but I sold Kula Klips to one of the gals that worked for me and I began the adventure of building a new business I would fondly call Chatty Girl Media.

Why Chatty Girl Media? Well it’s simple, I like to chat, a lot. I always got in trouble on my report cards for it. Good student, good grades but she talks to much. Every single teacher, every single time. I think its a good quality to have, I’m happy I am who I am. It has helped me tremendously in business. It’s been almost 4 years since I started my second company, and I have worked really hard to build my brand. When I hear someone say oh I know you, you’re Chatty Girl Media (sometimes they don’t even know my real name) it makes me smile, for I know I have done a good job making my name stand out from a crowd. I like to help people, and I have a lot of experience owning a small business so that tends to be the clients I work with. I really love my job. I really love helping people and businesses market and brand themselves online. My business is referral based, and I am so thankful for clients, friends and even strangers that send business my way.

I have lived in Edmonton since 2005 but I was born and raised in Winnipeg. I met my husband in high school, I love our love story. We grew up together, I think it’s pretty amazing to experience that with someone. We have 2 kids, Logan is 9 and Quinn is 6. We have a cat named Mr. Grey and a dog named Bandit. Our life is an adventure. We love to travel, we do a lot to give back, my husband volunteers countless hours to our kids activities and I spend my time volunteering with the Ronald McDonald House. I truly believe in karma, what you give will come back to you.

I want to thank you for reading my first official Chatty Girl blog post, I appreciate the support! I hope you will follow along on my new adventure, I’m pretty excited about it!
